Best Road Bike!

I'm honored once again to have one of my bikes picked for an award at the Handbuilt Bike Show. Travis' randonneur took the honors as "Best Road Bike", and I couldn't be happier!

The show was also a huge success from a business standpoint with quite a few orders taken and lots of interest from others. I look forward to working with everyone who's either on the list now, or thinking about sending in a deposit.

2011 "Best Road Bike"

Now to get a good night's sleep and prepare for the 20+ hour drive home, I hope the weather cooperates, I can't wait to get home and see Lisa and the cats!
Cheers,
Dave

  4. I still think you should have won "Best Off-Road Bike" honors, too--your MTB is incredible. Oh, and best paint.

  6. Congratulations. Now I can tell my friends my bike builder is a 3-time winner!

I miss the tie though - maybe that was the difference between best of show and best road bike! (just kidding)

  8. Three cheers for David and Jason too. Jason's paint job on the award winning randonneur was such an important contribution to the Ellis Cycles effort. You should be so proud as well Jason!!!

  9. This was my first NAHBS - first bike show of any kind, in fact. I was very impressed by the quality, enthusiasm, openness, craftsmanship and artistry all around me. After this experience, I can't imagine buying another bicycle "off the rack." It was a pleasure talking to you and Jason and admiring your winner and, indeed, all your work (you may remember the tall guy recently relocated to Austin from Chicago). Your rando got my vote for "Peoples' Choice." Congratulations! It will be very difficult to decide who will build my first handmade bike, but it's not very hard to picture myself on an Ellis!

  10. Thanks for all the great compliments! It was a great show once again and I enjoyed showing off the bikes and chatting with everyone who stopped by the Ellis booth. The order book is a bit thicker now too, so no complaints there either. I'm looking forward to a busy spring and summer!

    Cheers,
    Dave

  12. 8 months is what I'm quoting right now, but it's gone up a bit in recent days. Still pretty reasonable compared to many other builders, I think.

  13. The minute any one unpacks one of your bikes, the wait becomes irrelevant. I've done it twice now.
